Hi, I’m SlickHog, what’s your name?
I posses a visceral hatred for these “About” pages… Who am I? Who are you? What’s the meaning of life? What’s a square root of 1498?
What’s with the name?
It’s just a humorous reflection of my real life, which is full of contrasts. One one hand, I’m a professional, holding what many would regard as a fairly respectable position that has nothing to do with the internet. On the other hand, I’m a tech geek who gets fascinated by anything that has an electrical cord sticking out of it.
I absolutely hate school, but after graduating from high school I’ve spent 10 years studying full time and will probably spend another 2 or 3 years specializing even further… all of this while constantly hating school.
I hate getting up early in the morning, but in order to accomplish everything that I have planned for the day, I get up at 5:30 in the morning and go to sleep well past midnight… yeah, I love sleep.
I’m fascinated by technology, I love programming, I enjoy doing graphic design, but I never formally studied any of these subjects, my formal education and career has nothing to do with all of these things.
What’s with this blog?
Part of my real career involves analyzing data from research, trials, etc. Many sites, including blogs, advocate different ways of generating higher traffic, revenue, search engine rankings, and so on. I want to test those ideas and products, and present the results to you, the visitors. Having the results of specific tests or experiments that I do, will enable you to make more educated choices on your own blog and hopefully drive more traffic and $$$ to you.
