My experiences with hosting companies
Tue, Mar 25, 2008
I’ve had a number of web sites in the past couple of years. Some more successful than others. By successful I mean those which have seen SOME traffic. Since most of them were a one-man operations ran by me while going to school and working, I had a limited time to regularly update them. This is one of the reasons why many of them failed or are currently on life support.
Throughout this time, whenever I started a new site, I decided to choose a different hosting company. I did this because I wanted to find the best hosting company. Everyone tells you that they’re the best, so that’s not impressive anymore. I won’t talk about the plans each company offers, because they change and you can easily find that information on their websites. I will talk about my experiences with the various hosting companies.
One of the first companies that I hosted with was NeutralWeb. At that time, they offered competitive prices and allowed to host multiple domains on a shared account. During my three years of hosting with them, the server went down regularly every few months. My traffic wasn’t that big so I didn’t care that much. Their tech support was excellent. It seems that these guys really cared about their customers and did whatever they could to fix the problems ASAP.
B y the time I decided to switch my hosting company to something more competitive at that time, NeutralWeb added a new server, which I suspect fixed their problems.
