Over a month ago, I signed up one of my sites to BlogBurst. For those of you who are not familiar with it, it’s a free service that makes your blog posts available to a number of organizations, including FoxNews, Reuters, IBS, Chicago Sun Times, Wall Street Journal and more. You simply provide BlogBurst with your RSS feed URL and people from websites affiliated with them pick their favorite posts and place them on their sites.

Having already been subscribed to FeedBurner, I decided to see if their advertising will prove to be cost effective. I bought a week-long run of a banner displaying one of my site’s five most recent posts.

For the month of April, I will be trying out Kontera In-Text advertising. Since their ads are somewhat unusual by being placed within the text of each post, I want to see if there are any notable differences in CTR and total earnings, between In-Text advertising and conventional banners. (more…)
I’ve had a number of web sites in the past couple of years. Some more successful than others. By successful I mean those which have seen SOME traffic. Since most of them were a one-man operations ran by me while going to school and working, I had a limited time to regularly update them. When one of my sites reached roughly 200,000 unique monthly visitors, I thought it may be a good time to start getting some private ads. So, two weeks ago we introduced private ads. I wasn’t expecting any quick sales immediately and I will be happy if we make a single sale in the first 30 days. In other words, I have no idea how long it may take to generate some private ad sales. (more…)
I currently own between 100 and 150 domains, which at one point or another I thought were great, and therefore bought them. I don’t have a specific number, because I lost interest in some of them and they have simply expired. I bought others in the meantime, so the number changes on a weekly basis. (more…)
I’m sure you’ve read articles about the importance of your domain name. It must be short, it must properly describe your site, it must be easy to type in, it must be easy to spell, it must be…blah, blah, blah.
I chose SlickHog, because SlickPig was already taken.
And the exquisite picture of a pig - I got that for a buck.
